Mortgage Protection Insurance in Midland, Sized to the Loan
Mortgage protection is life coverage built around one debt: your mortgage. We match the amount and the term to your loan, explain every rule in the policy before you sign, and make sure the money goes to the beneficiary you pick.

What Mortgage Protection Actually Covers
A mortgage protection policy is a life insurance policy. If you die while it is in force, the insurer sends money to the people you named. They can use it to retire the loan in one go or to keep the monthly payments going. Most are term policies, set to run as long as the mortgage does.
It is not the same as PMI. Private mortgage insurance protects the lender if you stop paying. It pays your family nothing. Many clients we talk to have PMI on their statement and assume they are covered. They are not.
Our job is to make the paperwork plain. Who gets paid, when the coverage shrinks, what the insurer can ask about your health, and what the contract lets you cancel. You hear all of it from us before you apply, not after.
What We Handle for You
- Matching the term to the loan
- We look at your loan balance, rate and years left. Then we set the policy term so coverage doesn't end years before the last payment.
- Level or decreasing coverage
- Decreasing coverage drops as the loan balance drops and usually costs less. Level coverage stays the same, so anything left after the payoff goes to your family. We show you both side by side.
- Beneficiary set the right way
- We check whether the policy pays your spouse, a trust or the lender. Most clients want the money paid to family, who can then decide what to do with it.
- Riders explained one by one
- Some policies offer riders for disability, job loss or a return of premium. We tell you what each one costs and the conditions written into it.
- Help through underwriting
- We walk you through the health questions, any exam, and the records the insurer may pull. No guessing about what comes next.
Signs It's Time to Set This Up
You just closed on a loan
New mortgages tend to bring a stack of insurance mail. Much of it is generic. A real look at your numbers is a better starting point.
One income carries the payment
If your spouse could not cover the mortgage alone, coverage tied to the loan closes that gap.
You only have coverage through work
Group life often ends when you change jobs. In Midland, where people move between operators and contractors, that can leave a gap nobody notices.
You refinanced
A new balance or a new 30-year clock means your old policy may be the wrong size or end too soon.
Your only protection is PMI
That covers the lender. Your family still needs their own policy.
How It Works From First Call to Policy
- 1
Talk through the loan
On the phone, we go over your balance, payment, term and who depends on you. Have a recent mortgage statement handy if you can.
- 2
Compare policy options
We lay out term lengths, level versus decreasing coverage, and any riders worth a look. You see what each choice does to the monthly cost.
- 3
Apply and go through underwriting
The insurer asks health and lifestyle questions. Some policies call for a short exam and lab work, while others rely on the application and records alone. We tell you which applies before you start.
- 4
Review the contract with us
When the policy is issued, we read it with you. We check the beneficiary, the term end date and the free-look period stated in the contract, so you know how long you have to cancel if something isn't right.

What Moves the Price
Your premium comes from a few things the insurer weighs. We can't change your age or health, but we can show you how each choice changes the number. You get your quote by phone with each piece explained.
- Loan balance and term
- More money owed and more years to cover keep the insurer on the hook for longer. The premium reflects that.
- Age and health
- Younger, healthier applicants pay less. Tobacco use, blood pressure and some medical history raise rates.
- Level or decreasing
- Decreasing coverage usually costs less because the insurer's risk shrinks each year. Level costs more but leaves extra for your family.
- Riders you add
- Disability, job loss or return-of-premium riders each add to the premium. Some are worth it for some people; we'll say plainly if one isn't for you.
- Occupation and hobbies
- Insurers ask about risky work and activities. Field jobs or flying a private plane can affect the rate class.
Mortgage Protection Questions
Something not covered here? (432) 287-5495
Does the policy pay my lender or my family?
That depends on how it is written. Most of the policies we set up pay the beneficiary you name, usually your spouse. They can then pay off the loan or keep making payments. We confirm this on the application and again on the issued contract.
Is this different from regular term life insurance?
Often it is term life with the amount and length matched to your mortgage. Some policies are sold under the mortgage protection name with extra riders. If a plain term life policy covers you better, we will tell you.
Will the insurer want blood work or an exam?
It depends on the policy and the amount. Some insurers decide using your application answers plus records they can check, like prescription history. Others send an examiner for a short visit with a blood draw, scheduled when it works for you. The bigger the coverage amount, the more likely an exam is part of it.
What happens if I pay the mortgage off early?
The policy stays in force until its term ends or you cancel. With level coverage, your family gets the full amount even though the loan is gone. With decreasing coverage, the amount keeps dropping on its set schedule.
My mortgage is on a place in Odessa or Big Spring. Can you still help?
Distance doesn't change much here. The first talk, the application and the contract review all happen over the phone. Folks in Stanton, Andrews and nearby towns get the same walk-through as someone a few blocks from us in Midland.
